_________________________________________________________

In conjunction with my book fair post and The World Series, I am giving away a Testing the Ice Prize Pack.

Testing the Ice is a new children’s book illustrated by Kadir Nelson and written by Sharon Robinson. Sharon is the daughter of baseball legend Jackie Robinson, the first African-American to play in the major league.

In the early 1950s, legendary baseball hero Jackie Robinson literally “tested the ice” for his kids who so eagerly wanted to skate on the frozen lake near their home. Testing the Ice is a stunning metaphor for Robinson’s remarkable racial breakthrough.

Big Honda Media provided me with a copy of the book to preview and I was moved by the heartwarming story and brilliant illustrations. After my 8-year-old daughter read the book, she provided me with this review:

“It was great!” – Nee

If you want to experience this rich story, please enter this exciting contest. All you have to do to enter is tell me who you think will win this year’s World Series – The New York Yankees or The Philadelphia Phillies. Trash talk is encouraged.

Five people who pick the correct World Series Champion will win a prize:

One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a TESTING THE ICE prize pack – Kidorable Hat, Glove & Scarf set and a copy of Testing the Ice

TestingTheIce_PRIZE

Four (4) additional winners will receive a copy of the book!

Winners will be chosen by Random.org.

Contests begins on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. (CST) and ends immediately after the deciding game of the 2009 World’s Series ends. No purchase necessary to enter.

Good luck and I’m looking forward to reading your comments. BTW – I’m picking the Yankees.

Stay Strong,

Hey! I’ll go with the Yankees, too. I interviewed Kadir once. He’s amazingly gifted, and such a great interview. I’ll share the contest. Good luck to me!

Looks like a great book!! I think my teenage girls might not appreciate it so much but I’m sure my old age husband would love it along with our little William :-) I will share this on Facebook and Twitter free of charge!
