Chivalry is Not Dead Free Pants Contest

Mocha Dad is a real gentleman who looks good in Dockers pants.

CONTEST ENDED – Winners: Ronald Keith, Scott Kuhn, Courtney, Kisha Floren, and Charlotte Prescott.

Chivalry is not dead.

Unfortunately, many women believe otherwise. I’ve had numerous women tell me that men no longer know how to treat women. “We aren’t looking for Prince Charming just a gentleman,” said one of my friends.

While it’s true that many men are loathsome oafs, there are legions of guys who practice acts of chivalry on a daily basis.

Guys, here is your chance to show the world that chivalry is not dead. Post a comment describing how you keep it alive. Ladies, you can also participate. Tell me about a gentlemanly act that someone has done for you.

Five lucky commentors will receive a pair of Dockers Soft Khakis in either classic khaki color or a cool red.

You can receive an additional entry by following me on Twitter and posting this tweet (leave a comment to let me know you did it):

Win free pants from @mochadad. Leave a comment at http://bit.ly/9kyhvo describing an act of chivalry #chivalryisnotdead

Hi! My husband does a lot of things around the house and I love him for that. However, I will mention an act of chivalry from my co-worker, a young man who runs at the chance to help all us “older” women out by picking up our heavy boxes and helping the preg. women out (I’ve been one of them 2 yrs. ago). Sometimes it’s good to see gentlemen acts in the workplace.

Yes, chivalry is not dead. My wife loves when I open her door or pull her seat out for her, or takes charge of emptying the trash. I love my wife because I love myself, as God dictated, and as the Church is Jesus’ bride, then I’ll give my life for her. Furthermore, she’s my reflection and I’m hers. Therefore, I pass on my gentlemanly traits on to my male students and stand in as the example of a reponsible , well-mannered man for my female ones. God bless(es)!!!

Oooooh….neat!!! Chivalry is found in subtle ways…..Hubby does the guy stuff for me….like take out the trash, carry all the heavy bags, move heavy bits of furniture around and nothing earns extra brownie points as that phone call from work just to check on how I am and say I love you….awwwwww

My hubby would always take out the trash and carry my books and other heavy stuff for me. In the university, I like it when male students would open the door for you when they see you carrying stuff or simply let you go in first.

My hubby watches the baby so I can take a nap, cooks on weekends, helps with laundry and chores around the house, and overall treats me like a queen. :)

Chivalry is not dead! I live in the South…men still open doors for me and offer to help me carry things or go ahead in a line. Older men even pull your chair out and wait to be seated until you are or walk on the outer side of the sidewalk. My husband does these things occasionally as well. ;)

My then-boyfriend went to extreme lengths to open the door of his beat-up Corolla for me, instead of letting me climb in over the driver’s seat, including whacking the door repeatedly from the inside until his wrist hurt. How could I resist?

My husband gathered a few friends when we moved and together they moved and loaded all our boxes into the moving truck. I, of course, had packed the boxes but I didn’t have to carry any of them.

Aside from these other great examples, I like doing things in public for strangers when I get the chance. Things like holding the door at the post office for a lady–apparently these kinds of things are a little unexpected these days, but do bring smiles and thanks!

Absolutely not dead; I haven’t opened a car door in the 10 years my hubby and I have been together, but the best example is his refusal of any waiter in any public eatery to take his plate away (as he typically finishes before me) as long as I’m still eating. It’s become a cute “oh you know the deal with them” in some of the places we frequent whenever a new waiter/bartender comes around – I ADORE it! ;-)

Chivalry is NOT dead. We are a very traditional household…hubby works, I stay home with the kiddos, he works on the cars, takes out the trash, and empties litter boxes so I don’t have to get my hands dirty and I love it:) And him!

  • http://thesuburbanscrawl.blogspot.com Melisa

My husband still, after 23 years of marriage opens doors for me and walks on the street side of the sidewalk. :) I love that.
