I was about 10? He was so nice and kind to everyone, he'd volunteer at church functions and -gasp-would joke around with me! I was so smitten, I even told my mom he was "the one". She laughed and explained that it would not be proper for a 22 year old to date a 10 year old. Nonetheless, my crush continued. The highlight of that year was when I was allowed to dance with him once at a Church mixer. I was on cloud nine. So imagine my dismay when a few months later I found out he was engaged to be married! Oh how I cried into my pillow. The betrayal! The deceit. Now I realize he was just being nice because I had such a crush on him. He still belongs to my church and I run into him from time to time.
