Since my daughter was a baby, whenever we are in the car, I'm singing with the radio. Tuned to the Old Skool station, of course. I sing in harmony, ad lib lyrics, and truly enjoy myself. My daughter is 17 now and she does the same thing, while we're fighting over which station to listen to.

Wish my parents had more dancey dance time when we were growing-up! It is so healthy for the kids! Keep it up and as soon as they hit the musical instrument phase - they'll start getting some rhythm.

they should never let lack of rhythm discourage them from dancing. let's just say I am still taking my belly dancing class, despite my mediocre amount of rhythm :D

I don't think we ever "fostered" it. They each found their own way. The oldest, the video game head, started his love affair with music after buying Guitar Hero. Now he is my 70s/80s hard rock and metal head.

The middle child, who is 7, found my mp3 player and would just randomly listen to it. He latched onto Michael Jackson on now goes out in public wearing a white glove, fedora and a Beat It jacket we had sent all the way from China. He is also in a hip hop dance class. The kid's got moovs.

The toddler...she does the toddler bounce to any music. I just pray she's not into Miley and the Jonas bros in a few years. Nooo!

You're on a winner with 'U Can't Touch This'. It's the most requested car song from my kids. Although they did start with the Chipmunks version.
