As usual I have really enjoyed this. Been thinking a bit about the religious side. This time of year it is a discussion that creeps up. We're a Jewish family. My kids go to a Jewish day school.

With all of the Xmas music and trappings there are questions that come up. My kids have known from a very early age that Santa isn't real. We taught them not to tell other kids that he isn't.

It has been an interesting experience. I went to a public school. I wasn't the only Jewish kid, but it was clear that we were a minority. My kids were shocked to find out that we weren't the majority.

We have a lot of Christian friends, but they (kids) don't always realize just how many we have.

Anyway, while I don't believe that you have to be religious to be a moral person I think that it is good to teach the kids about whatever faith you practice.

My hope is that we do a good enough job of teaching them critical reasoning that in time they will question their beliefs and come to their own conclusions about what is real and what is not.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear about your wife's family being torn apart because of money. I'll be glad when people finally realize that relationships are more important than money.
