Thank you for this discussion and for the referrals to the books these men have written. We'd like to post your information at www.realmencook.com and to involve you and these men more intimately in Real Men Cook, the national Father's Day tradition.

I may be off base as far as the topic goes but I am looking for help. I come home from work and have to clean, which is wrong, five in the house and no one noticed a sink full of dishes, oldest daughter who is away picked up on it, it seems as though my kidz are against me. I apoligize if I sound angry but I am.

I am trying my best and its not good enough. I am raising six children by myself(all from the same mother), She refuses to help financially or emotionally. I am lost, I do my best for my kids, two in college and the rest in middle school, I find my self tired and depressed, no energy to do anything but work and be a parent. I have lost myself. Hard to get out of bed and do other things. I started building walls around me, no more smiles or going out. Friends call and want to take me out but I won't go. I am in therapy and its not working, Have lots of anger inside, lots of anger. The things I liked to do I no longer do. Really feel no woman wants a man raising 6 kidz by himself and trust me I know, date going well until I mention the kidz and they head the other way. Yeah I am down on myself, why is it that the good man gets stomped on and the dude who isn't taking responsibility gets loved.

A Father needs to listen more. Kids will talk and talk and you'll find out a lot more than if you ask questions.

Right on, Gentlemen. Our daughter definitely clings to Mama for now, but as my wife keeps reminding me, she'll be Daddy's girl for the rest of her life.

WONDERFUL discussion! I would love for my husband to get in on it but he's not a blog reader. He's a wonderful father of 2 beautiful children, boy and a girl. Some of the answers I saw, especially about raising a boy and a girl and the difference, I see in him LOL.
